Nature demonstrates
Many ideas and inventions that change our life are based on everyday experiences and observations of nature...
This also applies to GnL:
Long before walking and jogging were popular sports, an engineer, whose accumulated miles equal running around the world twice, wondered why the soles on his shoes wore off and why landing in sand and snow was made with such ease yet the push-off so exhausting.
He came to the conclusion that the reason was the “shearing forces”. It is necessary for these forces to be absorbed during landing, but just the opposite is true on push-off. An interface between shoe and surface had to be created to counteract these demands. This resulted in the development of the GnL elements.
